Corban's Surgery
It's been a long week at our house. Corban had surgery last Thursday at Primary Children's Hospital. In January he told me he had a bump on his neck--sure enough, there was a big bump right where his Adam's apple is. It hurt a little so I made an appointment with our doctor. Dr. Judy (after an x-ray and a CT scan) diagnosed it as a thyroglossal duct cyst and it had to be removed. We were told it was a same-day surgery procedure. About 2 weeks after that, we traveled to Salt Lake for an appointment with Dr. Park. He verified the diagnosis and we scheduled surgery. I was ok with all of it until we actually headed to Salt Lake last Wednesday. Then I got really nervous and upset about it--Corban seemed ok, but I was a mess. Anyway, everything turned out ok. Also, it turned out that it required an overnight stay in the hospital. Corban ended up staying in the hospital 2 nights because he was having problems eating like he should. The hospital is not a fun place to stay and I have a lot more sympathy for families of really sick kids who spend a lot of time in the hospital. Corban's home and doing great. He has bounced back really quickly and hasn't even needed any pain medication today. He's amazing and I am so proud of him for how he acted in the hospital--he acted like a much older kid! Corban's a wonderful kid! Here are some pictures of him in the hospital and what his incision looks like now! Thanks to everyone for all the support and phone calls and gifts--it meant a lot to me! Love you all!
